Firm History

Martha Norberg, a certified public accountant and certified fraud examiner, founded Seabold Associates in 1990. Before Seabold, Martha served as a special agent with the Criminal Investigation Division of the IRS, including as a managerial special agent and lead instructor at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Glynco, Georgia. From its inception until 2000, Seabold Associates served as an international consultant to the U.S. Department of Justice in Latin America, providing on-site technical and strategic assistance to law enforcement professionals in many Latin American countries. During this period Martha developed and presented training courses focusing on financial crime investigative techniques, conducted assessments of various Latin American countries’ investigative organizations and resources, assisted in the development of unified training programs for law enforcement entities in many of these countries, and provided reports to the U.S. Department of Justice for its use in decision-making.

In 2000, Seabold Associates was reorganized, becoming Seabold International Services LLC, and began doing business under the trade name Seabold Group. That same year, Kris Cappel, a former Assistant United States Attorney, joined Seabold Group as a principal, expanding Seabold Group’s investigation offerings with her civil litigation background and experience as a federal prosecutor. Since that time, Seabold Group has seen its client base grow to include private businesses and not-for-profit organizations, in addition to continuing its work with law firms and government agencies. Seabold Group also continued to broaden the scope of its investigative services, working with clients in areas such as corporate mismanagement, embezzlement, fraud, asset misappropriation, white collar crime, corruption, workplace harassment and discrimination, employee misconduct, investor due diligence, property disputes, civil litigation and criminal defense.

In 2004, Seabold Group was joined by Susan Coskey. Susan had extensive organizational and human resources experience and with her addition, Seabold Group added organizational effectiveness and facilitation services to Seabold Group’s established risk prevention and investigation practices. In November 2011, we said goodbye to our friend and colleague, as Susan left Seabold Group to join a management consulting firm, located in Seattle, Washington.  Seabold Group remains a premier full-service investigation consulting firm, specializing in workplace, forensic accounting and litigation-related investigations.

Seabold Group is certified by the State of Washington as a Women’s Business Enterprise – Certification No. W2F9322104.
