Firm History
Martha Norberg, a Certified Public Accountant, founded Seabold Associates in 1990. Prior to establishing Seabold Associates, Martha served for 13 years as a Special Agent with the Criminal Investigation Division of the IRS and, for part of that time as managerial special agent and resident lead instructor at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Glynco, Georgia. Through Seabold Associates, from 1990 to 2000, Martha served as an international consultant to the Department of Justice in Latin America, providing on-site technical and strategic assistance to law enforcement professionals in Latin America and as an investigator in two high profile Washington State investigations involving the Wenatchee Child Sex Abuse prosecutions and alleged corruption in the Seattle Police Department.

In 2000, Seabold Associates was reorganized, becoming Seabold International Services LLC, and began doing business under the trade name Seabold Group. That same year, Kris Cappel joined Seabold Group as a principal. Previously, Kris served as federal prosecutor in the Eastern District of New York, where she was responsible for a wide-range of prosecutions and investigations. Prior to joining the prosecutor’s office in New York, Kris practiced law as a civil litigator at two major law firms in San Francisco, California, where she focused her practice on employment law, complex commercial litigation and auditor liability. With the addition of Kris, Seabold Group increased its service offerings and client base and since 2000, has been engaged to provide investigative services in a number of matters involving corporate mismanagement, embezzlement, fraud, wrongful death litigation, sexual harassment and discrimination in the workplace, alleged slaughterhouse animal abuse, alleged child abuse, investor due diligence, property disputes and criminal defense. Seabold Group has also been retained to assist defense counsel in several of the Puget Sound area’s largest white-collar fraud investigations involving allegations of health care and securities fraud.

In 2004, Seabold Group was joined by Susan Coskey. Susan began her career practicing law in Washington, D.C., both in private practice and as a Counsel to the United States Congress House Judiciary Committee Subcommittee on Courts, Intellectual Property and the Administration of Justice. Susan moved to Seattle in 1991 and joined the law firm of Garvey, Schubert & Barer, where she became nationally recognized for her work as a labor and employment attorney, focusing her practice both on management consulting and training as well as labor and employment investigations and litigation. In 2000, Susan joined RealNetworks, a publicly traded company based in Seattle, as its Vice President of Human Resources and member of the executive management team. Susan has focused solely on human resources and organizational consulting services and investigations since 2003. Susan brings energy, insight and unparalleled expertise to our firm and possesses a unique combination of consulting, legal and business experience -- a perfect fit with Seabold Group’s established risk prevention and investigation practices. With the addition of Susan, Seabold Group has expanded into a full service human resources and organizational consulting and professional investigation firm.

As we move forward, Seabold Group continues to seek out strategic alliances and innovative services to better meet the ever expanding and diverse needs of our clients.
